MEAGAN & JASON : A TROPICAL WEDDING

FEATURED WEDDING

Another day, another wonderful destination wedding in TULUM!

Meagan & Jason’s wedding took place the 23th of April 2016, in Akiin Beach Club.

65 happy guests were attending the event.

We can clearly say that it was a very sophisticated, elegant and harmonious wedding with some exotic touches and details perfectly reminding the tropical vibes and spirit of Tulum.

The couple was very meticulous and thought about every single detail so that all the guests enjoy the wedding party during the whole event.

We asked Meagan and Jason to tell us more about their story, and all the choices they made for planning this very special day, and they were really pleased and happy to answer our questions.

SO, what better way to jump into this story than reading Meagan and Jason’s own word ?!

1

How did you guys met?

We met while in graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania, but our paths finally crossed while we were both spending a summer in Denver, Colorado. On a whim, Meagan reached out to Jason about where to find the best margaritas in town, and the laughter and conversation has been flowing ever since

Why did you choose Tulum for your wedding?

“Jon’s cousin has lived there for 12 years and he went with his family to vacation there. We continued to visit each year when we met. It was our first vacation together. Once you visit Tulum, you are automatically hooked! It is the one place where we can truly relax and feels like a home away from home

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning?

I always envisioned an intimate ceremony followed by a big, extended dinner party with dancing.“

6

What was your color palette and your style vision?

We chose to embrace the natural qualities of Tulum by bringing in local plants, white flowers, and wooden tables. We are both architects, so simple, clean design was of utmost priority.

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

A large part of our vision was the triangle-shaped chuppah for our ceremony. We wanted our own take on the traditional archway, so decided to evoke a pitched steeple with large wooden beams and covered it in draped greenery. For details, we focused our attention on the paper products and placecard holders.

What was your favorite moment? Your favorite crafted detail?

Oh, hands down: dancing to our favorite song in the center of a ring of sparklers. We had thought to simply walk through an aisle of sparklers, but Agnesh, our planner, brought up the idea of dancing in the middle of them. It was simply amazing.

Tell us about your flowers, your gown your favors, your cake, etc?

For flowers, we went with white flowers paired with dark green. We relied heavily on squirly little white ranuculus   for the tables and the bridesmaids’ bouquets. My dress was a simple silk gown with a cathedral veil (which proved to be quite the adventure with the wind). A cake on the beach didn’t really made sense to us, so instead we opted for refreshing after-dinner fruit paletas (popsicles) and late-night churros. For favors, our guests were greeted with fresh coconuts, given a celebratory cigar, and sent home with a white shawl to protect against the evening breeze.

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?

To trust that somehow, against all odds, everything will come together. And it will be magical.

What did you think about the services offered by Destination Weddings Tulum (not only for the wedding, but for your entire experience in Tulum)?

We were extremely happy. Laura and Agnesh really went above and beyond on the days leading up to the wedding and their coordination efforts on the day of the wedding (especially in the face of a surprise thunderstorm) were superb.
